A "Bit" About Me

A black and white symbol of a bitcoin.

I'm Perry, a Salt Lake City resident originally from the plains of Kansas. Computing has been a cornerstone of my life for as long as I can remember, and I love sharing that passion with others. At age 8, I built my first PC alongside my dad—an experience that set the trajectory for my education and career.

In 2015, while pursuing my computer science degree at the University of Kansas, I stumbled upon Bitcoin. The cypherpunk movement and the brilliance of cryptographically backed digital currency blew me away. These ideas simmered in my mind as I kicked off my career as a software engineer, shaping my views on modern monetary systems and sparking my interest in cryptocurrency education.

That interest truly took root during my time at Microsoft. There, I worked on a team in Azure + AI that fought to streamline Azure’s supply chain. One of our sister teams was exploring blockchain technology as a means of accomplishing this , and it reignited my curiosity in cryptocurrency. I dove deep into the essentials—reading foundational books on Bitcoin and the U.S. monetary system, unraveling the technical nuances of various blockchains. Tangentially, I embarked on learning the ins and outs of investing and trading—an oft-cited companion to cryptocurrency. It was around this time that I began offering informal crypto consultation to friends and colleagues eager to understand the space.

As my career progressed, I stepped into a team lead role, spending much of my time mentoring junior engineers. Teaching them technical programming skills was rewarding, but I soon realized I could combine it with my passion for crypto. So, Little Cottonwood Crypto LLC was born with the mission of bringing crypto education and coaching to anyone seeking it. Today, I’m driven by that passion for teaching, bringing clarity to the world of crypto for anyone ready to learn.
